Vascular (Doppler) scan refers to the blood vessels. Vascular ultrasound is an examination of the body’s circulatory system. It uses the Doppler phenomenon to study the speed and volume of blood flow.

DVT – Deep Vein Thrombosis

These are blood clots which can develop in the body’s venous system and most commonly occur in the deep veins of the calves causing pain and swelling of the calves. Certain predisposing causes include: long travel, oral contraceptive, covid, previous clot, surgery, long bed rest and trauma.

A thrombosis is dangerous as it may result in a pulmonary embolism which can be fatal.
